Fees

At Manu Kindergarten we aim to keep our fee structure affordable and transparent, while continuing to provide a high-quality early childhood programme.

To support a sense of belonging and continuity, we encourage enrolment of two or more days per week.

20 Hours ECE and optional charges

We offer the government-subsidised 20 Hours ECE for children aged 3–5 years. For eligible children, we request an optional charge of $15 per day for the first 3 days.

Government funding covers only the minimum standard required for early childhood education. At Manu Kindergarten, we choose to offer a programme that goes far beyond this.

Your contribution directly supports:

  • A small group size (no more than 20 children)

  • Community excursions

  • Special events such as our Matariki Celebration and end of year celebration

  • Materials for enriched curriculum activities such as gardening and woodworking

  • Food staples for baking and cooking as part of our food preparation curriculum

  • High-quality resources for art activities

  • Storypark - a secure online platform to communicate learning and development between home and kindergarten

  • Extra staffing above and beyond the minimum requirements of 1 teacher to 10 children (for part of the session we have 3 teachers for 20 children).

These contributions make a significant difference to what we’re able to offer your child each day. The optional charge is encouraged, but not compulsory. If paying it presents a genuine financial barrier, please speak with us.

If your child is with us for more than 20 hours per week there is a fee of $6.50 per hour.

To make it simple (because fees can be confusing to work out sometimes) if your tamaiti is aged 3 – 6 years:

  • 2 day enrolment (6 hour day) $30.00 per week

  • 3 day enrolment (6 hour day) $45.00 per week

  • 4 day enrolment (6 hour day) $76.00 per week

  • 5 day enrolment (6 hour day) $115.00 per week

If your child is 2 years old, please contact us to discuss your individual needs and costs.

FamilyBoost

Many households may be eligible for the government’s FamilyBoost payment. This provides a rebate of up to 40% of early childhood education costs for households earning under $57,286 per quarter (or about $229,000 per year).
You can find more information and check your eligibility on the IRD website.

WINZ subsidy

WINZ subsidies are available to those who qualify and entitlement is calculated on your annual income. You cannot claim both the 20 hours ECE subsidy and the Childcare Subsidy for the same hours of attendance but you can claim both for different hours of attendance.

For advice about entitlement go to the work and income childcare subsidy website.

you have any questions about fees, payment options, or available funding, please feel free to get in touch. We’re always happy to help.
